John Terry insists Manchester United are "not invincible" and could yet bottle it in the Barclays Premier League title race, starting against his Chelsea side on Tuesday.

The Blues have all but surrendered their mantle of English champions, having slipped back to fifth place in the table, 12 points behind long-time leaders United.

But captain Terry has vowed to fight to the bitter end and reckons beating United at Stamford Bridge next week would help sow the seeds of doubt in the minds of their perennial title rivals.

Yet, he is well aware 12-point leads have been frittered away before at this stage of a season, not least by United themselves in 1998, as well as by Newcastle two years earlier.

Terry knows all too well the immense stress involved in trying to wrap up a championship, no matter how far ahead a team may appear.

SOCCER'S John Terry has coughed up £1.74million to builders - after they sued him over three flash flats he put a ten per cent deposit on.

The England and Chelsea ace, 30, was accused in a High Court writ of refusing to complete the deal when the balance fell due.

Terry's £174,000 downpayment on the pads in a luxury new development amounted to barely a week's wages. The balance was due in April, according to Galliard Homes - but he allegedly refused to stump up for the apartments, which were priced at £660,000, £555,000, and £527,500.

Last night Galliard had finally got its money - as it emerged fellow England stars Sol Campbell and Shaun Wright-Phillips were sued too.
