FINAL LIST OF RIDERS FOR GIRO D'ITALIA 2011
( May 3, 2011 )       Giro del Trentino

Here is the final list of riders from Pro Team Astana, engaged for the Giro d’Italia 2011:
Roman KREUZIGER (CZE) - Leader
Alexandr DYACHENKO (KAZ) - Rouleur
Maxim GOUROV (KAZ) - Rouleur
Josep JUFRE (SPA) - Climber
Robert KISERLOVSKI (CRO) - Climber
Francesco MASCIARELLI (ITA) - Climber
Evgeny PETROV (RUS) - Climber
Gorazd STANGELJ (SLO) - Rouleur
Paolo TIRALONGO (ITA) - Climber
Since the beginning of the season, Giro d'Italia appears to be one of the major objectives for the Astana team "We have a big responsibility for this race, said team manager Giuseppe Martinelli, because we aim for the General Ranking with our leader Roman Kreuziger, here, our primary goal is the podium. Roman is a young leader, but I really trust him, I know he is well prepared and is in good condition. Our second goal is the Team Classification. We have a strong group, with riders who can claim good results for the General. These are all the riders who were in the Giro del Trentino 2011 (they were 1st in the Final Team Rankings at that race) and the Kazakh Alexandr Dyachenko coming from Tour of Turkey. "
The team will work in the service of the leader Roman Kreuziger "Kiserlovski, Tiralongo, Masciarelli and Jufre will be the closest men aside Roman, they will accompany him as long as they can in the mountains. And riders like Stangelj, Petrov and Gourov, will work in the flat stages, to save the strengths of other team members”, explains Martinelli.
Thus the Croatian Robert Kiserlovski takes part in the Giro, while sequelae following his crash in Paris-Nice (Stage 7, March 12, 2011) forced him to abandon the Tour de Romandie. The morning of the prologue in Martigny (Switzerland), Robert had an MRI of the back which seemed to reveal a crack in a vertebra, already consolidated "The team doctor Andrea Andreazzoli showed that MRI to a specialist who told us that it is not actually a crack, but a big bruise, explains Martinelli. Robert took advantage of last week to rest, he had one thing in mind, be in shape for the Giro. He took this decision alone to participate in the Giro, nobody has put any pressure on him and there is no medical contraindication."
Regarding the Kazakh Alexandr Dyachenko, he was not in the initial list for the Giro, unlike Fredrik Kessiakof "Alexandr Shefer told me that Dyachenko worked very well in the Tour of Turkey, he is currently in very good condition and last year at the Vuelta he showed us he could well fit in the climbs. I think he will work every day to honor the opportunity he has been offered to take part of this Giro. Regarding Fredrik Kessiakoff, who was among the shortlisted, I want to tell him he must not lose morale, he did a lot of races this year and he did a great job for the team. He always satisfied us, the season is not over and many opportunities can still be offered to him. "
