UPDATE: Columbia Records Jumping Beyonce’s Ship for ADELE’s In what has been a crazy week for Beyonce and Columbia Records
the story gets deeper. Our reliable source (who has pretty much been
accurate all week even giving us the first tip that Beyonce’salbum had
leaked) says that the tides that once bound Beyonce and Columbia Records
are getting tense. There is now rumbling in Beyonce’s camp (not really
from Beyonce) over the decision to push Beyonce’s album back. Her team
from what we hear is pretty upset with Columbia Records. Beyonce’s Team
feels that Columbia records in “Jumping Ship” on Beyonce in favor of
Beyonce’s label mate Adele. For those of you who didn’t know, Beyonce is labelmates with the
biggest breakout singer of the year Adele. Adele music can be heard and
is sampled all over the place. Our sources tell us the Columbia Records
has become Adele’s World pretty much due to fact that Adele sold 5
million copies of her second album in 3 months which hasn’t been done in
the music industry in a while. Secondly, because of the success of her
2nd album Adele’s first album sold another 1 million copies after the
2nd album’s release. Unheard Of! So now the plot thickens, because our rock solid source tells us that
Columbia Records decided to put its muscle behind Adele for next year’s
awards season and not Beyonce. We are told that Columbia hasn’t
completely abandoned Beyonce but they decided not to put their usually
unlimited power behind her latest album. We are told that Columbia feels
Beyonce’s album is too late in the game to go head to head with Adele,
Gaga, and even Rihanna. We are told that Beyonce is still top priority
at Columbia but just not #1. This story is still developing. Be on the look out for Columbia
Records official statement about Beyonce’s album being pushed back
between later today and early next week.
