我们不该逼着人做某些决定，有些抉择会造成心头太大的负担，不论你到头来做出什么决定，日后都会后悔，而且会后悔一辈子。



所谓“做善事”这种哲学，就是帮助和自己毫不相干的陌生人、为了某个目标牺牲小我的想法——对我来说，这是个过于抽象、过于热心，又太利他主义的原则，令我很不自在。



你已逐渐习惯让自己小心提防，只为自己的利益着想，有一天却被告知，你得跟一批陌生的事物打交道，而这些东西正是你已学会不去信赖的那一切，由于你知道自己的人生短短数日后又要重归原样，那又何必费劲拆解自己的性格呢？



比起先给人礼物，过了一会儿又硬生生把东西抢回来，什么都不做会不会反而比较好呢？

我们的生活不过是种种意外事故的总和，不论在细节上有多大的差异，本质上都是随机而不可预测、难以抗拒的：这样那样，因为那样，所以这样。



我生活的目标是让自己脱离周遭的一切，活在一个再也没有什么可以伤害到我的地方。我设法一一弃绝我所喜爱的一切，抛开我曾经在意的所有事物，我打算达到一种“无动于衷”的境界，强而有力，十足而绝对的无动于衷，这样未来再遭到任何攻击，我都可以得到保护——简而言之，我放弃想办法当个人。
