Guests began the evening with a Moët & Chandon Champagne Reception, and whilst sipping champagne were free to wander around and see different Royal Court plays performed by LAMDAstudents, which they could listen to through headphones. They were then taken into the spectacular Assembly Hall and greeted by tape players on every table, each playing a personalised version of Occasional Table by playwright Laura Wade, read by famous voices Ruby Bentall, Tom Hollander, Rupert Penry-Jones, Juliet Stevenson and Richard Wilson. After enjoying a sumptuous dinner, the Chairman of Sotheby’s Europe Henry Wyndham led a Live Auction, giving guests the opportunity to win some incredible experiences, from a tour of the Downton Abbey set to lunch with Alan Rickman on the set of his upcoming film. After coffee, guests were treated to a unique and one-off performance on their tables, as Royal Court friends Jimmy Akingbola, Zawe Ashton, Kenneth Cranham, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Dawson, Lindsay Duncan, Douglas Hodge, Toby Jones, Matthew Macfadyen, Lyndsey Marshal, Lesley Sharp, Samantha Spiro, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Rachael Stirling and a 50-strong cast from LAMDA performed a specially written new play by Richard Bean.
