Manuel Neuer 3.0 Saw very little action between the posts in the first half as he served as more of an outfielder than a goalkeeper. Was forced to make one one-on-one save at the death and did brilliantly.
Mats Hummels 3.5 Given a starting berth despite his recent nightmare against Switzerland, and repaid Low's trust with a vastly improved performance. Made several vital interventions and never let Postiga get a sniff at goal.
Holger Badstuber 2.5 The only German centre-back assured of his starting berth heading into tonight's game, but didn't always play like it. Let Coentrao run past him early and was booked after letting Nani do the same.
Philipp Lahm 3.0 Had a successful night in defending against Nani, and when needed, even helped out against Ronaldo at times. A captain's performance.
Jerome Boateng 3.0 Made two excellent stops to deny Ronaldo, and it was arguably his efforts that kept the prolific forward off the score sheet. The Bayern man was booked for a professional foul and was not always in position, but he did what was necessary.
Sami Khedira 3.5 Performed well within his sphere of influence: did what he could and tried no more. And when the time came, he set up Gomez's winner. Many aspiring footballers could learn a valuable lesson from him.
Bastian Schweinsteiger 3.5 Commanded the midfield brilliantly alongside Khedira. Rarely let a pass go astray, and was strong in the challenge. He was the primary reason for Germany's midfield dominance.
Mesut Özil 3.5 Sprayed the ball around the attacking third with a touch of class and ought to have had an assist by half-time. However, his limitations were exposed as Germany could have used more of a scorer from his position.
Lukas Podolski 2.5 Arsenal's new star signing frequently found himself inside the penalty box, but his finishing left much to be desired. Had plenty of free space on the half-hour mark, but sent his shot well over the bar.
Thomas Müller 3.0 Not at his sharpest - he lacked the lethal instinct that made him such a hit at the 2010 World Cup. Misplaced many passes and over-hit several crosses.
Mario Gomez 3.5 Started the game brightly as he score a fine - albeit disallowed - goal, and had a good header saved. Only looked an intermittent threat, but never stopped working and was rewarded when he scored the winner。
