When Oh Sehun first met Kim Jongin, his first impression was that he was not someone he wanted to get caught up with. On many occasions, when the two crossed paths, Sehun went out of his way to avoid him. He’s got no time for the likes of Kim Jongin. No matter how hard Sehun tries, though, Jongin is always there. His cocky voice is always taunting him, Jongin is so formal, just call me Kai, he persists. He finds himself warming up to the older boy, albeit unwillingly. Jongin is extraordinarily talented in the category of dance, Sehun soon finds out. He goes to his dance practices, and watches him. He could watch for hours, that’s how good Jongin is. Sehun has an unexpected urge, a sudden burst of confidence, and asks Jongin- no, Kai- out on a date. Kai-ssi, would you like to go out sometime? Maybe to a movie? Kai stares blankly at Sehun, blinking more than necessary. He shakes his head, informing Sehun that he’s focused on his dancing; a relationship will only get in the way. Sorry, he says, turning around and walking out of the dance studio. Sehun feels a wave of emotion; anger, sadness, even relief. He sighs, reprimanding himself for letting Kai in. He regrets falling for someone he somehow knew could never be with someone like him. They don’t talk much after Kai’s rejection, only sharing occasional texts, and small smiles and friendly hellos when they come across each other. Sehun is over the general burn, the petty and spiteful attitude he’d had towards him was now gone. He was happy he’d gotten to now Kim Jongin, he was happy that he got to spend time with him, although short.
