埃及十灾的传说:
圣经的出埃及记中提到，摩西为了让犹太人离开埃及，借着神的力量施行了十灾，便称为[埃及十灾]。但这些灾难究竟是神话，还是真有其事呢？马尔和莫罗 为了解开这个谜题，给十灾赋予科学上的解释，他们找来了各方面的专家一起研究十灾，发现这些灾难并不只是传说或神话，而是一连串息息相关的天灾......

And the fish in the Nile will come to destruction,
and the river will send up a bad smell,
and the Egyptians will not be able, for disgust,
to make use of the water of the Nile for drinking.
用手里的杖击打河中的水，水就变成了血。
河里的鱼全数死亡，水也变得腥臭，河水变得无法饮用。
水变成血，这是一连串灾难的开始。
推测是 由于圣婴现象(即全球气温上升导致气候的异常)，尼罗河中滋生了一种极为稀有，可以在淡水中存活的藻类，叫做[沟鞭藻](一般藻类大量滋生的红潮只出现在海水)。这种藻类会放出有毒物质，使得鱼类身上开始溃烂， 然后大量死亡。鱼的血和藻类本身的颜色使得河水变红，像是染了血一样。这使得河水腐臭有毒而无法饮用。(据圣经记载地下水和井水不受影响，这证明了是河中滋生的藻类导致第一灾)。这种沟鞭藻，不久前也使得北美的一条河流中的鱼全数死亡。

The Nile will be full of frogs,
and they will come up into your house and into your bedrooms and on your bed,
and into the houses of your servants and your people,
and into your ovens and into your bread-basins.
The frogs will come up over you and your people and all your servants.
河里滋生青蛙，这青蛙要上来进你的宫殿和你的卧房。
上你的床榻，进你臣仆的房屋，上你百姓的身上，进你的炉，和你的抟面盆。
又要上你和你百姓及众臣仆的身上。
在圣经中提到的青蛙(frogs)，在当时其实可以泛指青蛙，树蛙，蛤蟆等等两栖类动物。但是青蛙所产的卵并没有多到可以导致灾难，蛤蟆却是一次产卵可以上千上万颗，在河中的鱼都死光的情形下，蛤蟆产的卵没有天敌来吃，所以大量孵化出小蛤蟆，这些蛤蟆离开有毒的水到了陆上，跳进人类家中。

and Aaron, stretching out the rod in his hand,
gave a touch to the dust of the earth,
and insects came on man and on beast;
all the dust of the earth was changed into insects through all the land of Egypt.
亚伦伸杖击打地上的尘土
就在人身上和牲畜身上有了虱子
埃及遍地的尘土、都变成虱子了。
蛤蟆和青蛙因为失去了水中的住处，到了陆上不久之后便全部死亡，于是昆虫类就因为没有天敌而大量繁殖。会同时叮咬人类和动物的虫类并不多，而虱子在当时也可以泛指蚊类，因此这里说的虱子应该是一种叫做摇蚊的小虫子，它小到几乎看不见，咬了人之后会使人发痒，就像被虱子咬了一样。

and placing themselves before Pharaoh,
Moses sent it out in a shower up to heaven;
and it became a skin-disease bursting out on man and on beast.
摩西取了炉灰、站在法老面前．
摩西把灰扬起来、就在人身上和牲畜身上、成了起泡的疮。
叮咬人类和牲畜的摇蚊，也会传染一种叫做[鼻疽]的传染病，这种传染病是唯一一种会使人类和动物同时感染的病毒，发病的人身上会长满烂疮，就和圣经中描述的一样。

and all the land of Egypt was made waste because of the flies.
