Student Government Election Information
Are you interested in serving as a Student Government Senator for the 2013 Spring semester? If you are, applications are available in the Campus Life & Event Services Office which is located in the University Center, room 202. Student Government has vacant senate seats in the following colleges: Health & Human Services, Science, Technology & Agriculture, Education, University Studies and Visual and Performing Arts. Applications are due January 25th. Applications for the general election are also available and will be due near Spring Break.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Dinner
Nine-time Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and philanthropist John Legend will present the keynote address, "An Evening with John Legend,” at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Dinner Jan. 23 at the Show Me Center.
Doors open at 5:00 for the dinner guests; Dinner begins 6:00 p.m. Show Me Center. Speaker only arrival is 6:15 p.m. – meet at the Student Recreation Center; Speaker only is Free for Students - must bring their ID. Go to: www.semo.edu/mlk to register for the dinner or speaker only tickets.
MLK Jr. Read-a-thon
The Martin Luther King Jr./Black History Month Planning Committee is hosting an MLK Jr. Read-a-thon. This program gives faculty, staff and students the opportunity to read to children at a local school. For more details and contact information, please see the attached flier.
Spring Welcome Back Event
The Student Activities Council will be hosting its third annual Spring Welcome Back event on Friday, January 25 from 6-10pm. The event will be hosted at the North Recreation Center and is open to all Southeast Students. The Student Activities Council will be providing activities such as Laser Tag, a tricycle racetrack, an inflatable obstacle course, and snow globe photos. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
There will also be a student organization fair from 6-8pm, which will feature over 30 student organizations from Southeast. For more information contact SAC President Trevor Mulholland at tpmulholland1s@semo.edu.
SAC Movie- Pitch Perfect
Student Activities Council will be showing Pitch Perfect as part of its spring Midnight Movie series. The film will be shown at Cape West 14 Cine on January 25th. Doors open at 11:30pm and the movie will start at midnight. Admission is free to Southeast students and includes a small soda and popcorn. Non-Southeast students can attend for a nominal $3.00 fee, which also included a small popcorn and small soda.

American Heat Associations Heart Walk

We invite you to form a team and represent your group in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk! Teams are led by a Team Captain who recruits Walkers (or team members). Walkers are asked to collect donations from family, friends and colleagues. Teams often organize fundraisers as well. The AHA suggests teams of 10-15 people, but any sized team is welcome! Walkers are encouraged to collect $150 each, but there is no fundraising minimum amount or registration fee to participate for individuals or teams.
