She has long been tipped to conquer the world of fashion and Laura O’Grady has continued to make good on her early promise – as she’s won a a leading role in the new Spring/Summer campaign for Vivienne Westwood.
A prestigious role for the young model, Laura features prominently on the designer brand’s site in an array of quirky poses in a shoot to showcase the brand’s latest collection.
A top fashion brand, the label is favoured by celebrities from Jerry Hall to Pharrell Williams. So it’s little wonder that the model’s starring turn was highlighted by her agency, Select, yesterday.
Sharing a link to the campaign, the agency tweeted: ‘@lauraogradyy for @FollowWestwood Spring/Summer 2014 photographed by Colin Dodgson …’
It’s the latest high-profile role for the model, who has wowed on the catwalk since emerging on the scene.
A hit with the fashion crowd, the model impressed last year when she walked exclusively for top designer Yves Saint Laurent in Paris last October.
With A-list fashion fans Salma Hayek, Lenny Kravitz and Vogue’s Anna Wintour watching from the front row, the Dublin model was booked for a worldwide exclusive for the top fashion house.
A coup for the young model, she featured in the show in a host of eye-catching monochrome ensembles.
Taking to Twitter afterwards, she said at the time: ‘Cannot believe I just walked exclusively for saint laurent! Best 2wks working w the AMAZING team here and so worth it for the amazing show!!’
And she added: ‘I’ve known for three weeks and been working with saint laurent for two weeks doing looks… Was killer not telling anyone!’
A rising star in the modelling world, she was also tipped as one to watch by Elle magazine.
A prestigious fashion publication, the magazine singled her out for special praise, picking her as a model to watch over the season.
It said: ‘We predict big things for this new face with wit and charm of the Irish.’
One of a number of Irish models to make a mark on the industry abroad, she told You magazine previously: ‘I wasn’t getting a huge amount of work in Dublin.’
‘I’m more odd-looking than the girl next door, which I’m fine with! I have large ears, big eyes, big eyebrows. But Ireland prefers typical tanned blondes.’
She added: ‘It’s not the money – I’m not someone who’s obsessed by money – or the clothes or being photographed. That’s just the job description. It’s the travel and the people I meet. Last summer, I was in Paris and Berlin.’
‘I’ve met some really cool designers. That’s an amazing experience for an 18-year-old.’
