Blooming In The Wind
You, by a gust of icy wind
Were torn from the trees;
The wind, like a ghost with icy hands
Took you away with him.
Autumn once saw you running by,
And autumn saw your grin;
Now autumn sees you, withered with fright
Like a fallen leaf in the wind.
You, who’d been kissed by the angels
Now looks so pale and thin;
The angels placed a halo on your head
And sang you a heavenly hymn.
Winter once heard you laughing by,
And winter heard you weep;
Now winter hears you, singing with the angels
Like a snowflake in the wind.
You, lead by the holiest spirits
Now stood in front of Him;
“My son,” said the Lord, as he gazed at you,
“May your soul rest in peace.”
Spring once saw you dancing by,
And spring saw you swing;
Now spring sees you, smiling there
Like a dandelion in the wind.
You may have lived like summer’s light,
Brighter than anyone had seen;
May you leave like an autumn’s night:
Your time is yet to begin.
Summer will see you return here,
And there will summer see you be;
‘Cause summer shall see you, like a flower,
Blooming in the wind.
You, by a gust of icy wind
Were torn from the trees;
The wind, like a ghost with icy hands
Took you away with him.
Autumn once saw you running by,
And autumn saw your grin;
Now autumn sees you, withered with fright
