The Letter
“Dear me,
How are you doing? Ten years has passed by just like a flash. I bet you must have become ahandsome boy now……”
Duncan found the wrinkled yellow letter when he was doing some big cleaning in his bedroom. He could not see the words on the letter clearly, but at least he remembers that who wrote it……
Memories about the past just appear in his mind. There was a boy with a mother, talking,playing and dreaming about what they could be in the future.
“Mom, the time is going so slow, I’ll never grow up with such a slow speed of time!” The naughty boy was just complaining why he could not grow up in one day. He just wanted to have a job and live like his mother.
“Oh dear, you are wrong. The time is going so fast that we cannot control or stop it at all.You will not be that happy as you imagine now when you become at my age.Cherish your time or you will regret!” The mother just smiled and talked patiently to her son. The boy did not even notice his mother’s rough hands anda few snowy hairs on her head.
“I just don’t believe it……” The boy talked in whispers. And then he looked at the blue sky with some birds flying past the window.
“Honey, you may write a letter to ‘yourself after ten years’ to ask how ‘you’ feel about the time!” This idea came out of the mother’s mind and she gave her son the idea.
“Um……Well, it sounds cool. I’ll do it right now!” The boy jumped and ran to write the letter to himself in the future. And the mother stood at the door, watching her sonwith a smile, but praying the time could stop even just for a sec, so she could hold her son in her arms for some more time. But the boy, he was so young andhe did not know his mother’s thoughts at all, and he kept writing……
That boy was him, Duncan,and the sword of the ten-year time hurt his mother so much and left so many emotional scars. He was reading the letter with plenty of tears in his eyes. He was just sitting in the chair as he did ten years ago. Then Duncan finally realized how fast the time had passed away, he did not have any ideas what to do, but just wanted to go into his mother’s arms. Just then, he found his mother standing at the door, just like ten years ago. She was still smiling, but with tears. Duncan rushed to her……
“Please write back to me soon and tell me how you feel about the time……”
The letter said so at the end, how he wished to write back to the childish boy but time just made it impossible for him ……
