Being a mature student does not mean being an old-timer.Mature is not measured by the number of years a person has lived.Instead, they yardstick of maturity is marked by the qualities of self-denial, determination, and dependability.
Self-denial is an important quality of a mature student.The word “Self-denial” means restraining being strict with oneself.Sometimes, people define it as self-discipline which has a bias passive meaning.Self-denial is not making a lot of rules and regulations to layer upon layer to manacle oneself, but with the autonomic action to create an order for our study life.We always have great dreams, have magnificent ideals and have grand prospects; however, they are often postponed or even vanished by ourselves due to the lack of self-denial.We should put our ideas into practice.Besides, self-denial also means denying yourself and controlling your impulses.Nobody is perfect.Faced with mistakes, we should take measures to modify it and never behave impulsively.
Determination is another characteristic of a mature student .What we define determination is to take up your mind to act decidedly and take the consequences.Determination not only means decision but also practice.In China, there is a famous fable “the foolish old man removed the mountains”, which presents spirits of firm determination and perseverance.No good is ever done by hesitation in the world.It is known that Buffet, every time his investment will get a huge return, because he is well prepared in advance and determined what makes his pay shall be multiplied.
Although self-denial and determination are both vital, probably the most important measure of maturity is dependability.When we talk about a person who is dependable means he is worthy of reliance or trusts.If you are committed to transmit some secret documents to a company, you must be required dependable.Sometimes dependability refers to responsibility.Judging a person whether he is mature or not, responsibility is the key factor, because only the person with responsibility is worthy of being depended on.
In conclusion, if a student who owns the qualities of self-denial, determination and dependability, he can say that he is a mature student with pride; otherwise he can’t.If you really can develop the three qualities, you really comprehend the meaning of maturity.

Is the Loneliness a Bad Thing?
According to some social surveys, we can see that the only child in most Chinese families feels lonely in some ways.Why the only child feels lonely?Is loneliness a terrible thing?
Compared with the western, the Chinese children are shyer in communication, which is a reason to make them lack of friends and companies.On the other hand, as the only child in the family, they can’t enjoy the happiness from brother or sister.When they meet some troubles, they have to deal with them by themselves; they can’t get help from their family fellows.Therefore, compared with the children who have brother or sister, the onlychild would feel lonelier.
However, is loneliness completely a bad thing?Obviously, the answer is no, because loneliness also can bring something good for them.It is reported that the only child possesses more advantages than other children in personality and in thought.
Firstly, the only child is more independent in personality.Lacking of help from others, they are used to dealing with all kinds of things by themselves as much as possible.Thus, the only child would be more independent in life and they can endure more setbacks and pressure.Inaddition, when they leave their parents and start to live alone, they would meet fewer difficulties.But the precondition is that they don’t rely on their parents deeply.
Moreover, the only child has wider horizon than others.As the only kid in the family, they can enjoy better conditions in life or in education, and they have more opportunities to get in touch with fresh things and accept higher education.In this premise, loneliness gives them more time and space to think after study.As the saying goes, genius is the product of the loneliness.Einstein is a good example.Therefore, on the one hand, the only child feels lonely. But at the same time, one can enjoy loneliness when thinking.Loneliness brings more chances to think of meaning about life and future.
In a word, the only child feels lonely but also can get some benefits.Learning to enjoy loneliness, one would be easier to taste the real life.

The Reasons for the Craze of Pursuing Graduate Studies
In recent years, the number of taking part in graduate examination in our country has increased continuously.According to the register data from the whole country, experts predict that the number of the register for graduate examination will be near 180 0000.However, why so many students go to pursue graduate studies?
Many reasons can account for this.In the first place, the pressure of the employment is one of the most important reasons.For one thing, many students tend to improve their competitive ability so that they can be easier to get an ideal job in the future.For another, some students can not find a job anywhere and they have to continue to take up advanced studies to improve themselves.For this reasons, those who have faith to achieve their goals always have more initiative than others in their studies.
In the second place, most employers think highly of academic qualification.The demand of academic qualification has also been important in hunting job.Many undergraduate students want to achieve a higher academic qualification by pursuing graduate studies so that they have more chances to choose their jobs.
Last but not the least, many undergraduate students pursue graduate studies just because they want to improve their social status.By pursuing graduate studies, they can get the chance to be a member of civil servants or political department and get high salary as well as get a higher social status.
In a word, the reasons for the craze of pursuing graduate studies are complex and various.As far as I am concern, to learn more knowledge is a good thing, but we should take our actual situation into consideration so that we can achieve our value much better.

Investing in Vices
A tricky question in investing is how much of a role ethics should play in your stock selections.
Should you invest in companies that manufacture weapons?What about nuclear power? Alcohol? Gambling? Tobacco?Those are the "Big Five" in terms of ethical decisions. They tend to provoke the strongest emotions, and come up most often in discussions of ethical investing.

The world being what it is, too fine an ethical filter could quickly screen out almost every large company and many small ones.
I tend to be tolerant of most vices in life, and also in investing.I am currently seeking out defense stocks.I'm eyeing at least one nuclear-power stock, and am favorably disposed toward gambling stocks.There's no liquor stock I want to own, but if the numbers looked attractive, I'd buy one.
