The Fresh Roast SR700 Coffee Roaster is the 4th generation of our coffee roaster line. This new model allows the operator to plan out the entire roast beforehand, entering precise points of heat, fan speed and length adjustments; load the beans and sit back and enjoy the show! Adjustments can be made during the roasts. The roasting profile can be saved for exact future roasts. Your Windows PC will need a USB port. Your SR700 roaster can also be operated manually, independent of your computer. Software is compatible with all 32 and 64-bit Windows XP, Vista 7 and 8 operation systems.

I was all excited about spending a bit of extra money to get a computerized roaster, hoping that I could compare roasting curves from one batch to the next, exchange ideas about best roasting conditions etc. And boy, am I disappointed! This is the same machine as the SR500 with some additional, super-annoying 'features'.
The good thing about it is when it runs through USB, you see the temperature, but it does not record it over time! Why not? Beats me, somebody could not be bothered to enter a few lines of code! Ok, I understand, so at least the source code is available so people can make upgrades? Dream on! Then I was hoping that finally we could run this thing based on temperature and time rather than time only. Oh no, all it can do is adjust the fan speed and time setting - it still has a low, medium, high temp setting but these of course depend on ambient temperature.If your ambient temp changes (I roast outdoors in LA and so the temp does change!) then you are still at a total loss.
So I stopped worrying about the USB link hoping that now it basically was an SR500. It has still equally s***ty red panels that are impossible to see unless the light is just about right, middle of the night maybe. But now for fan speed, instead of a knob that is easy to use, you need to use a flimsy film button until the fan speed blinks and then use another two of those film buttons - that probably will break in a couple of months - to make the fan speed go up or down. Same for the 'temp' setting. It is rather upsetting!
I give this a three star because there is nothing wrong with the underlying SR500, but boy I wish I would not have listened to my inner geek wanting a USBed roaster! I could be so cool and the implementation is so dumb!照这个评价sr700的USB接电脑也不是太好用？
