Being an artist I think is very cool. But personally I don't have what it takes to be one. I enjoy appreciating art work though.

Yes it is pretty interesting to look at a good artist and wonder to yourself what steps this person took to become what he is today. Is it just talent? Did they work hard as well? Or a little bit of both?
If we don’t cast our eyes on the entertainment industry, it is easier to believe that talent and hardworking are all there is to it. As long as you have a certain knack for a certain craft and you are willing to work towards refining the craft, it’s only a matter of time for you to be recognized.
But the entertainment industry changes the dynamic, by a large margin. They don’t focus on talent and diligence as much, but they sure give a lot of weight to looks. Hence someone can be absolutely talentless but as long as they have a beautiful face or figure, they will get picked up by agents and adored by people. (For example, Nichkhun from 2PM and the entire Kardashian family).
After all it all boils down to what kind of artists you are focusing on. Some craft, such as painting or being a classical musician, can’t be hidden behind a pretty face. Whereas being a famous person “seemingly” doing “music-related stuff” in media, can be achieved by looking good and with some help of autotune.
