Weall know time is priceless in our life. But there were still occasions that wewasted time, especially during the recent lockdown of COVID-19, when thepandemic hit a lot of cities in China. At the beginning of the lockdown, I wasstill celebrating Chinese New Year with my family. However, when the holidayreached the end, I got anxious and lost for the online classes. It was amission impossible for me to focus on online teaching when I was alone at home.
Itwas a Wednesday in March, I was supposed to take online classes and do somefurther research of my project. Instead of opening my computer, I logged to avideo game on my phone. At first, I just wanted to see what gift I’ve beengiven by the system, and only play one round. However, each time the gameended, I felt there was an invisible power that attracted me to a new round.Since it was a combating game, each round would take at least 20 mins. Untilthe game system remained me that I already spent 8 hrs. on this game, did Irealized how much time I’ve wasted?
I shut down the game andstarted to regret it. I should have finished my paper during the day, notplaying endless online games. Life should always be creating somethingmeaningful, which those numbers and levels in the game cannot give me. Laterthat day, I deleted that app on my phone, and swear never to waste my time likethis again.
