I enjoy visiting the Shanghai Museum of Glass. The first time I went there was during my elementary school, and I went there for a volunteer training program. With the opportunity, I learned the history of the museum, the origin of different pieces of art, the craftsmanship of glasses, and I was able to introduce my assigned part at the end. The activity was not serious training since the members-oriented were elementary students, so we also had chances to visit the museum as well. My mom took me to walk around the museum as well as other students were around as well. The architecture of the building is a simple cube covered with white and black ceramic tile, and the museum is divided into four sections, two of them are the exhibition of the glasses. I was shocked and surprised by the arts and design in the museum. The interior design is in a black theme, which highlighted the glasses’ showcases. The glasses that exhibited are colored by different dye and manufactured into peculiar shapes, which makes the black showroom looks mysterious and abundant. The reason I enjoy visiting the Shanghai Museum of Glass is because it is a place that makes me feel relax and enjoy. Every time I come to the museum, I can find something new to explore since the arts will be replaced at the end of each season. Besides, I can find myself assimilate into the arts by thinking about designers' ideas behind each pieces. And I am used to going to the museum about once per season even now, and I believe this museum is the public building that I enjoy visiting most.

I believe appearance is one of the most important features of a building. Since the appearance gives the first impression to others before they enter the edifice. Besides, the design of a building also represents how the building will be used. For example, an art museum or architecture model displaying museum is always well designed, office buildings always look efficient and modern. It shows that the appearance is able to give out the feeling directly, so it is important.
What is the most important to a public building? Design, location or facilities?
The completeness of facilities is the most important feature of a public building. As a public building, functionality is in the first priority place that a designer should be looking for. Since a public building is a place that needs to preserve daily usage for a reasonable amount of people, so a place does not have the basic facilities that cannot be routing normally, which is a basic problem of architecture.
Who should be responsible for conserving the old buildings?
Basically, everyone has the responsibility of conserving the old buildings, but to be specific, the government is most responsible to conserve those old buildings. There are two reasons for it. First of all, the government is the most powerful and has the authority to protect architecture. And secondly, although everyone has a responsibility, not to damage the buildings, the actual conserving costs a lot, most people cannot afford that amount of money on their own, especially when the building is not someone’s property.
Do more people prefer to live in houses or apartments (in china)?
People prefer to live in apartments in China in general. In my opinion, there are two reasons. First of all, the Chinese are very busy in general, so living in an apartment already satisfy most people’s demands, as well as less cleaning is needed. Furthermore, most estates in the downtown of each city are apartments, living in downtown has a lot of benefits, such as close to office, convenient transport and diverse culture and different types of restaurants.
