卸压后，在检修燃油管路或接头时，将有少量燃油泄出，此时可用棉纱包住拆卸处以吸附泄漏的燃油。
燃油系统油压的预置
在拆下燃油管道进行检修之后，为避免启动发动机时因油路内尚未建立起燃油压力而使启动时间过长，应按下述方法预置燃油管道内的油压。
接好所有燃油管道接头，用跨接线短接诊断座的FP端子和+B端子（丰田汽车）或拔下燃油泵继电器，短接电源端和油泵控制端。接通点火开关使燃油泵运转，以建立起油压。
燃油箱泄漏检查
燃油箱由镀铅锡合金钢板或高密度模制聚乙烯制成。燃油箱有泄漏哪怕是渗漏也非常危险，当怀疑燃油箱有泄漏时必须仔细检查（检查前，应准备好干粉灭火器）。
首先释放燃油系统的压力，然后拆下燃油箱，在燃油箱上安装一个短油管，并堵住燃油箱上其他所有出口。通过短油管给燃油箱充入7~10kPa的压缩空气。用肥皂水或浸入法检查怀疑泄漏的部位，若观察到泄漏，应更换燃油箱。
