BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE 播放次数 3,910,399

Bullet For My Valentine have been stoking their slow-burn success for most of this decade, establishing themselves as Britain's premier metal band while nailing crossover popularity and even airplay on daytime BBC Radio 1.

        FOALS 播放次数 3,962,675

Oxford-bred Foals continued their upward trajectory throughout 2010, earning countless gushing reviews, a Mercury Prize nomination and millions of your scrobbles, despite the five-piece's steadfast efforts to confound and beguile listeners with a mixture of unapologetically intricate math-rock and stomping future-disco workouts.
Second album Total Life Forever is ticking towards the 4 million scrobbles mark as we approach the end of the year. 'Miami', the third single from the album, has made its way up the chart to become the band's second most scrobbled track ever, with 434,000 plays.

          Drake 播放次数 4,121,290

Aubrey 'Drake' Graham first found fame playing a high school student on Canadian teen soap Degrassi: The Next Generation. It's not the typical route to hip hop credibility, but as Drake he has been releasing mixtapes since 2006. After months of postponements, in June he finally released his debut album to an expectant audience of fans and haters, keen to see if he could make the grade after making his name at school.
On Thank Me Later, an album of languid beats and introspective lyrics, Drake proved himself up to the standards of the countless big-name guests making an appearance, including Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Young Jeezy, while impressing even the critics with his understated flow and eclectic reference points, from Boards of Canada to The xx. An official label release for buzz track 'Best I Ever Had' got thousands of you pressing play, with over 1.7 million scrobbles racked up so far.
Still, not one of the new album tracks could displace Drake's second most played song, the dark and menacing 'Forever', which features verses from Kanye West, Eminem and Lil Wayne and appeared on the soundtrack to basketball documentary More Than A Game.

            DEFTONES   播放次数   4,146,058

The success of Diamond Eyes, the fifth album by Deftones, has no doubt been a bittersweet experience for the band. In 2009 the group decided to put an album's worth of material on ice after bass player Chi Cheng was involved in a serious car crash that left him in a coma.
Deftones picked up their touring schedule by drafting in Sergio Vega, formerly of Quicksand, and heading back into the studio for an album largely free of sonic manipulation and extensive studio tinkering, trademarks since earlier efforts like 2000's White Pony. The resulting record picked up generous praise from both critics and fans, as Last.fm listeners catapulted the album's title track straight to the top of the band's chart, earning a colossal 570,000 scrobbles. Lead single 'Rocket Skates', a rumbling heavyweight slab of alt.rock in the vein of Around The Fur-era Deftones, also got your attention, nudging up to seventh place on their chart.
While the band hope to eventually release the postponed album, entitled Eros, Chi Cheng remains in a semi-conscious state. Deftones are gigging around the world until the end of January 2011, including a number of massive shows as part of Australia's Big Day Out.

                KINGS OF LEON      播放次数   4,238,249

Despite releasing Come Around Sundown just a couple of months ago, the stadium-filling Kings of Leon have managed to shoot up to number 33 in this year's countdown. The band's fifth album has already reached the ears of 350,000 of you, with lead single 'Radioactive' becoming an immediate radio hit despite a bizarre accompanying video which left many critics baffled.
While bassist Jared Followill may have only just turned 24, Come Around Sundown finds the Southern rockers inhabiting a swagger and prowess that would be the envy of rock stars twice their age. Blustering tracks like 'The Face' and 'The End' are destined for dozens of festival jump-alongs next summer.
Kings of Leon are a longtime favourite among Last.fm listeners, with the band's total scrobbles standing at over 86 million. As they head out on promotional tours around the world and gear up for the release of the second single, rumoured to be the reflective, country-tinged 'Back Down South', the band look set to consolidate their reputation as rivals to giants like U2 and Coldplay.

                  Local Natives       播放次数    4,527,498

Following in the footsteps of bands like Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes, Los Angeles band Local Natives started crossing your radar at the end of 2009 with their debut Gorilla Manor, an album of carefully orchestrated, hook-laden afro-pop.
After an initial release in the UK (where the band received a boost as Rough Trade shop's album of the month) Gorilla Manor arrived Stateside in February and continued to pick up listeners via countless positive reviews and word-of-mouth buzz. You responded in growing numbers as the band took their show on the road, from tiny basement venues to headline slots at major clubs and festivals, including Coachella in California, Glastonbury in the UK and Fuji Rock in Japan.
Heading Local Natives' chart for the year with nearly 700,000 scrobbles is single 'Airplanes', a soft and shuffling tribute to a missed grandfather with lines about encyclopedias and chopsticks proving surprisingly catchy. The life-affirming warmth of 'Wide Eyes' and 'Sun Hands' pushed those singles up the chart as well, as you clocked up Gorilla Manor scrobbles at a steady rate throughout the year. Live dates in Japan and Australia will keep the five-piece on the road until February 2011.

                      Ellie Goulding       播放次数   4,598,019

Standing up to the weight of huge hype and expectation, the debut album from 23-year-old British singer Ellie Goulding proved an instant hit on its release in March, knocking 2009's most scrobbled artist Lady Gaga off her number one spot in the UK album chart.
Goulding's particular brand of glittering, folk-inspired electro-pop had critics taking notice months before, as she was crowned the winner of the BBC Sound of 2010 poll as well as taking the Critics' Choice prize at the BRITs in February, all before Lights even dropped.
Comparisons with Marina and the Diamonds and Florence Welch might cast Goulding as the accessible girl-next-door against her peers' stagey flamboyance, but the pop punch of Starsmith-produced tracks like 'The Writer' and 'Guns and Horses' clearly won you over. While those singles picked up hours of radio airplay and thousands of scrobbles, early single 'Starry Eyed' led the way on Ellie's Last.fm chart with 1.3 million scrobbles to date, nearly twice as many as her second placed track 'Under The Sheets'.

                            The Black Keys     播放次数    4,657,413

The Black Keys reverted to their traditional two-man set-up this year after a string of critically acclaimed side projects and collaborations. The creation of Blakroc in 2009 saw Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney's primal blues thumping and inventive percussion paired with the hip hop flow of rappers including Raekwon, Mos Def, Ludacris and the obligatory posthumous appearance from Ol' Dirty Bastard.
The exposure the duo received via Blakroc and their collaboration with producer Danger Mouse proved to be a huge boost when they delivered Brothers to an expanded fanbase in May, hitting #3 in the Billboard chart. New track 'Tighten Up' became the band's most scrobbled track ever, now standing at over 676,000 plays. The stats show the band maintained a healthy scrobbling rate for the rest of the year as they took the record on the road, supported by The Morning Benders.
Fans of Blakroc will be pleased to hear that the project is to be revived in 2011, with the guest line-up set to include Chicago duo The Cool Kids and rapper Wiz Khalifa.
