Cam is the kind of girl who's up for a challenge. In fact, that's one of the underlying themes of her upcoming debut album, Untamed. So when syndicated radio host Bobby Bones dared her to cover Adele's big comeback song, "Hello," she woke up bright and early to sing it on-air — accompanied only by an acoustic guitarist.
The country newcomer had to read the "Hello" lyrics off her phone (understandable, given the song has been out less than a week), but she nailed every note in her signature honeyed voice, which like Adele's has seemingly no ceiling. Also similar to the British vocal powerhouse, Cam's latest single is one filled with regret. The gold-selling "Burning House" is a haunting musical apology to an ex.
"I really believe that the more vulnerable you are and the more scary it is to say what it is you're saying in a song and the more personal it is, that's when it resonates with people," the California native tells Rolling Stone Country of sharing her own story of a failed relationship through her Top 5 hit. "I try really hard to write things that are slightly uncomfortable."
As revealed today exclusively on our Ram Report, Cam's Untamed album will hit stores December 11th.
