                Injury cruels Millman’s French bid
                Paris, France, 21 May 2013 | tennis.com.au
Australian John Millman has been forced to withdraw from the French Open due to a shoulder injury.
The 23-year-old Queenslander, a wildcard into the main draw in Paris, announced the unfortunate news on Twitter late Monday evening.
“Really disappointed. MRI results have confirmed I have a significant shoulder injury forcing me to withdraw from #rolandgarros #atp #tennis,” he wrote.
The world No.141 will be replaced in the draw by compatriot Nick Kyrgios, who has been elevated from the qualifying draw. It will be the first time in the 18-year-old’s fledgling career that he will contest a Grand Slam main draw.
Young Aussie Alex Bolt has taken Kyrgios’ place in qualifying, and has drawn fellow Australian James Duckworth.
                可惜了,今年状态那么好。。之前葡萄牙250也从资格赛出线了。。
                其实我觉得从赢球希望的角度看Duckworth更应该拿这张正赛外卡。。

Nick Receives Main Draw French Open Wildcard
                  May 21, 2013
Australian Open junior champion Nick Kyrgios has received a wild card in to the main draw of next weeks French Open at Roland Garros due to fellow Aussie John Millman sustaining a shoulder injury.
World junior number one Kyrgios was due to take part in the men’s qualifying draw which started today but when Millman withdrew, vacating the wild card allocated to Tennis Australia in the wild card swap agreement between the French, Australian and American federations Nick was upgraded to the main draw and will now line up against the very best men in the world at the French Open which starts here in Paris on Sunday.
Nick is looking forward to the experience “I’m so happy to receive this wild card, I was super grateful for the qualifying wild card but to be given a main draw wild card is such a great opportunity and I am very thankful to all the team back at Tennis Australia. Of course the circumstances are not great, I wish John a very speedy and complete recovery but I really want to make the most of this great opportunity and go out there and show what I can do with the big guys, in one of the biggest events on the planet.”
GTC director of player relations John Morris, who manages Nick had this to say “I think this is a very special occasion for Nick to be making his grand slam main draw debut at the French Open but I think his form in 2013 makes him the right choice for being upgraded after John Millman withdrew, I know Nick will go out there and give his very best and at this stage in his young career that’s all that can be asked of him. I personally would like to thank Todd Woodbridge and all the guys at Tennis Australia for their continued help and support of Nick, it truly is one big team effort.”
The draw for the men’s singles is due to be released on Friday with the first round matches starting on Sunday and Monday.

                              Kyrgios ready for French Open
                              Paris, France, 26 May 2013 | AAP
Rising Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios believes he’s ready to compete alongside the big guns of world tennis at the French Open.
But mixing with them every day in the locker rooms is another matter.
Kyrgios, 18, will make his grand slam debut at Roland Garros after the injury withdrawal of countryman John Millman allowed him a late wildcard call-up.
After slashing his ranking by more than 600 places since winning the Australian Open junior title in January, Kyrgios is confident he won’t just be making up the numbers at the claycourt event.
But in a bid to stay grounded and focused, he wants to avoid bumping into the likes of his idol Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on a daily basis.
“I’ve made the choice not to go into the big guys’ locker room, just to stay in the (secondary) one,” Kyrgios said ahead of his opening round clash with tough veteran Radek Stepanek on Monday.
“There’s more space in there now, no-one’s in there.
“Also I think maybe seeing those guys all the time will probably get me thinking about things I don’t really need to be focusing on, so I’ll just keep quiet back at the other locker rooms.”
Some brushes with the big boys are inevitable at a Grand Slam and Kyrgios had no regrets at landing a chance practice hit with world No.1 Novak Djokovic on centre court earlier this week.
“I just put down my name looking for anyone (to practice with) and I checked an hour later and saw his name there and I was just like, ‘alright’,” Kyrgios said.
“Half an hour beforehand I had the headphones on, I was pretty nervous actually, but it ended up being a great hit. It was his birthday as well so it was a pretty good present for him,” he joked.
The youngest player in the draw could be forgiven for just wanting to make the most of the experience in Paris.
But Kyrgios, coached by Simon Rae, won’t be holding back against Stepanek.
“He’s obviously a great player but I’m going to go out there and give everything and I’m probably going to expect myself to do really well,” said Kyrgios, who won a Futures event in China last month.
“I’m going to be confident and I’ve been playing some really good tennis leading into the French Open.”
