Harrell looks less like a center than anyone on this list, but as much like a player as anyone. He is powerfully built, quick off the floor and afraid of no one he encounters. Harrell’s length will help him cope with taller centers and his strength will enable him to stand his ground. Louisville has never been much for throwing the ball inside, and the 6-8 Harrell isn’t really a post-up player, anyway. Neither has he shown an ability to flash into the high post and score from there. But Harrell has the potential to be one of the nation’s leading rebounders, and enough of those should come at the offensive end for him to produce solid scoring numbers.(他的身体,弹速,高度,将有助于他应付更高的中锋,Harrell有潜力成为全国顶尖的篮板手之一)

Kirk’s sophomore-year excellence seemed to come out of nowhere, as he’d redshirted the year before and contributed little the year before that. But his 12.1-point, 8.1-rebound averages and consistent defensive execution established him as a significant reason for UNM’s success (and when the Lobos failed in the NCAAs, he was offering up 22 points and 12 rebounds). Kirk is too big and too capable to be shooting below 50 percent, or to have the occasional 1-of-7 shooting night. If he’s a more accurate, efficient big man, UNM could find itself with another sweet tournament seed.(Kirk在大二赛季突然爆发,希望他成为一个更高效的大个子)

As his terrific inside partner, Jeronne Maymon, returns from a season lost to injury, Stokes will bear less responsibility to provide an inside game for the Volunteers. Playing close to the goal has never really been his thing. That’s a shame given his obvious physical gifts, but all that muscle certainly helps in establishing a defensive presence along the baseline. Stokes is a capable face-up shooter, and he’ll get more opportunities to sate that appetite with Maymon back to do the dirty work.

He is 7-1. He is athletic. He is longer than another season of “The Voice.” But Austin is built like someone who would not be all that eager to trade body blows, and that is how he most often plays. He has not yet found a way to make his assets more an issue than his liabilities. As late as in his freshman season at the Big 12 Tournament, Austin was being benched for long stretches by coach Scott Drew. He’s still a hot commodity for the mock drafts, and some NBA team might eventually make a sizeable bet on Austin’s potential. But if he were to play tougher, it might not be a gamble at all.(在模拟选秀中,奥斯汀的潜力可能使一些NBA球队在他身上投入相当大的赌注,但是,如果他打得更强硬,那就不会是不会是一场赌博)

This pattern has repeated itself so many times over the years, you’d think everyone would catch on by now. Each Syracuse freshman big man is a “disappointment” relative to his recruiting rankings. Each SU sophomore big is a “surprise” as he establishes himself as a significant force in the Big East. OK, so that last item of the pattern will change this season, as Coleman instead becomes a force in the ACC. Young Syracuse centers don’t play a whole lot because it takes them a while to figure out how to defend in Jim Boeheim’s 2-3 zone. Coleman has served his apprenticeship. It’s time to put his wealth of offensive skills to great use.

How much will Tarczewski grow in a year? Not physically, of course. He is 7-0, 255 pounds; he’s not going to want to get much bigger than that. But he can grow as a player, as a confident force in the post. Tarczewski needs to be ready to play more minutes and a larger role for the Wildcats now that he’s been on campus a year. He’s already an overwhelming rebounder, but his offensive skill has to improve to complement that ability.(Tarczewski需要准备打更多的时间和发挥更大的作用,他已经是压倒性的篮板手,但他的进攻技巧需要改进,以补充这方面的能力)
