如果说口头语言的诞生和文字的出现、印刷术的发明是人类传播史的两次大的革命的话，那么，二十世纪视听媒介的出现，则标志着人类传播史上第三次重大革命。视听媒介使人类的生活发生了质的改变。目前，从文字语言文化向视听语言文化的世界性转移已全面开始。作为交流思想和感情的通讯技巧，视听语言有着自己的内在规律，这是由视听媒介的媒材所决定的。本课程将牢牢抓住视听媒介的媒材特性，在传播学、心理学、语言学、符号学等学科的基础上，探讨和认识视听语言的基本规律。
